Queen Sophie Ann Leclerq
My subjects, I am an 1100 year old vampire who died in my early teens. I am originally from northern France and was the daughter of the wealthiest man in town. My name then was Judith. When I was about ten or twelve, a peddler came to my village carrying what I now believe to be a form of influenza. Within two weeks of his visit the town was wiped out except for myself and an older boy named Clovis. Though I have forgotten why, the boy did not like me. He raped me and took me to the next town, where he offered me up for money and food. We were camped out in the woods when a very hungry vampire attacked Clovis, most likely because he was bigger, and then decided that I would make a good companion. His name was Alain, and we traveled together for around three years. I do believe at one time he once was a priest, and enjoyed scaring us in our beds. Alain kept promising me that he would bring me over - I wanted the strength - but he would do the same thing Clovis had, selling me for money. One night we came to a village where the head-man knew what Alain really was - Alain had forgotten that he killed the man's wife while passing through. The villagers bound him with silver and left him in a hut to keep him until the priest returned from a trip. They did not tie me up for they knew that I was human and that Alain had abused me. The head-man's family wanted to take me as a slave.
I sneaked into the hut and told Alain that I would free him when he changed me. After some bargaining, he agreed. I dug a hole big enough for my body in the dirt floor. We planned that Alain would drain my blood and bury me under that pallet that he lay on, smoothing the dirt floor as best he could. On the third night, I would rise, break his chains, and then would flee into the darkness. But the priest returned before the three days were up. By the time I dug myself out, Alain was dead. The hut the villagers stored Alain in was the priest's, and he was the one who told me what had happened. I told him that I was the angel of death and that I was passing him over for being so virtuous. After a few years, I discovered an orphan, like me, roaming in the woods, like me, being forced, like me. That orphan was Andre, and we’ve been together ever since. Andre is my personal bodyguard, companion, and, at a time, lover. I have also made Sigebert and Wybert , vampires and they are also my bodyguards. I have a special ability, a gift, in which I can talk to my "children" telepathically. I can keep in touch with my children by, talking to each other and loving each other physically. This differs from normal "maker"/"child" relationships which start out as companions or lovers but does not last long (in vampire standards). Usually, the child will leave the maker, and must only come again when he/she is called upon by the maker.
Centuries later, here I am the Queen of Louisiana. There are many in my Queendom that I am particularly partial to. A certain Sheriff over Area 5, Eric Northman, I do find that he and I share similar tastes to say the least. Eric is a very loyal subject whom I know for a fact is my eyes and ears out in the world which we exist in. Then there is William (Bill) Compton. He is quite old fashioned to say the least but not old enough to hold onto the old ways of our kind. Grant you he had a sinister maker, Lorena whom met her demise by William’s own human Sookie Stackhouse. But when the synthetic elixir True Blood came out on the market Bill took to partaking of that instead of what WE vampires really need to survive. Yes, True Blood, as they have said or I have heard is a poor watered down version of its predecessor but I choose not to waste my time nor sacrifice my TRUE cravings for what is pure to our kind. Nevertheless, if William along with some of my other subjects wish to use this substitute I will not begrudge them that. I simply will do my Queenly duty and let them do as they see fit. However, any vampire will tell you that no matter how long one tries to hold back on their needs or use worthy substitutes like animals or the synthetic stuff......the real thirst will win in the end and it is only a matter of time before one will give in.
